Dyna-Glo Smart Space Living 3 Burner Detailed Review

Dyna-Glo DGB390SNP-D Smart Space Living...

Dyna-Glo offers a series of grills ranging from 2 burners in their smallest models to 5 burners on their largest models. The Dyna-Glo Smart Space Living 3 Burner is a mid-sized model offering basic features in a compact package.

Design and Build Quality

The Smart Space Living 3 burner is constructed adequately but does use steel for the firebox and heat tents which will rust faster than more expensive grills made from stainless steel and aluminum. It’s important to keep that in mind that this grill will not last as long as others constructed of more durable materials. Many users have noted that the heat tents may need to be replaced after approximately 1 year due to rust.

The lid is double lined with steel on the exterior and aluminized steel on the interior for better heat retention. It also has center-mounted analog thermometer although we always recommend having a good digital thermometer on hand.

The burner tubes are stainless steel and the cooking grates are porcelain-enameled cast iron which provides superior heat retention and searing compared to thinner wire grill grates.

Propane models are powered by a 20-lb tank (sold separately) and the grill is also offered in a natural gas version for those wishing to connect it to a permanent gas line.

The storage cabinet has a stainless steel double-wall door and plenty of room for the propane tank. Some users have noted that the panels of the cabinet don’t always align well and has a bit of a flimsy feel to it.

The steel side shelves provide room for food platters and prep work. The shelves have integrated tool hooks and towel bars and can support up to 25 pounds each.

The Smart Space Living 3 burner is small enough to be used for tailgating, The grill weighs 93 pounds and sits on 4 casters, 2 of which can lock in order to keep it in place

Ease of Assembly

Assembly is relatively straightforward, the instructions are easy to read and the grill can be put together by 1 person with a Phillips screwdriver. Total assembly time is approximately 1 hour.

Ease of Use

The grill features an electronic ignition system that allows it to be lit with the press of a single button. Each burner has its own spark and the system is powered by a single AA battery which is included.

Quality of the Cook

The Smart Space Living 3 Burner comes up to temperature relatively quickly and provides relatively even heat. However, some users have noted that the back of the grill can get slightly hotter than the front. The cast iron cooking grates provide excellent heat retention and distribute heat consistently across the surface.

The primary complaint about the grill is that it cannot achieve the very high temperatures needed to perform quick searing of meat.

Ease of Cleanup

Cleaning the grill is easy and straightforward. The cast-iron grates and coated in enamel which makes them easy to wipe down. Grease and other drippings collect in a removable tray for easy cleaning.

The burner tubes can also be easily cleaned with a simple stainless steel grill brush.

Price

The Smart Space Living 3 Burner offers good value for those looking for a very basic grill which gets the job done.

However, you do get what you pay for and the grill is made from less durable materials than some of its more expensive competitors.

Therefore, do expect to have to replace components of the grill when they begin to rust. Dyna-Glo does offer replacement parts which can be found online.
